Confidential material

Your obligations

Since March 2000 all businesses must destroy any personal data in order to comply with the Data Protection Act. Failing to do this could result in fines, a criminal record and even your business being shut down. It could also result in identity theft, expose your current and potential customers to fraud and other criminal acts, and severely damage your company's reputation.

What counts as personal data?

Personal data includes personnel files, social security and PAYE records, accounts and VAT records, customer information, sales enquiries, banking information, credit card details and personal health information. Commercially sensitive information, such as business plans and company reports, should also be securely destroyed for your own protection.

Totally secure

Blue Castle are fully aware of the responsibilities associated with handling your confidential documents and data. We destroy all data in compliance with the strictest regulations and use only securely locked, metal containers. We allow you to stay in control of your confidential information right up until we collect it from you site and take it to one of our high-security facilities. We'll also give you a Certificate of Destruction - your proof that you've complied with regulations.

Our recycling service

Once we've securely destroyed your documents, we make sure they're recycled. Recycling a tonne of paper will save approximately 14 trees. It also uses around 65% less energy and causes 72% less air pollution than making paper from wood pulp.

While local councils may offer a recycling service of their own, it can take months before your paper is destroyed - meaning your confidential details could be lying around for all to see.

More than paper

We can also arrange for the secure destruction of any sensitive data stored on hard drives, CDs, flash drives ad other removable storage - just ask us to find out more.
